English Heritage- a family day out

Last year before we went on our summer holiday to North Yorkshire we were looking for things to see and do and realised a lot of things in and around the area were English heritage properties, so we decided to become members as it worked out better value for money. Whilst on holiday we visited Rievaulx Abbey, Scarborough Castle, Helmsley Castle, Clifford's tower, Pickering castle and Whitby Abbey, over the summer months last year we visited Roche Abbey, Conisborough Castle and Brodsworth Hall, taking various family members and friends with us.
The kids love to walk round with the audio guides and listen hard for all the information and tell you all the facts as they hear them.

Today as the weather has started to improve we decided to venture out to Bolsover Castle (which we had visited a long while ago)
We let the kids take the lead following the audio guide and letting us know all the information we needed. There were staff on hand to help with any questions we might have had and they were very friendly.
The kids once they had listened to the whole audio then had a good play on the adventure play area whilst mum and dad had a well deserved pot of tea.

I would highly recommend anyone who has kids of a similar age to mine 7 and 6, and like visiting a variety of different types of buildings/castles to sign up for the membership package, it would have cost us £29.40 as none members to visit Bolsover castle today but our membership is less than £10 a month. During the summer months it will again pay for itself
